Sticky Note Thought- How to Stand in Faith for What You Want from God

Stand in faith

It’s no secret, faith pleases God. But how do you STAND in faith with confidence, especially against the enemy’s consistent onslaught?

  1. Make a decision to stand.
  2. Find passages in Scripture that specifically address your issue.
  3. Meditate on Scripture verses concerning your situation.
  4. When distractions, fear, and negative thoughts come, answer them with the Word.
  5. Start back at #1 as often as it’s necessary so that you’re able to fully expect the manifestation.

Stand in Faith

As you stand on the Word, it’s important to expect the manifestation of God’s promises. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus. He is a promise-keeper. Anticipate that you’ll see God’s goodness demonstrated in every area of your life.

Stand on His promises with an attitude of gratitude and with praise, even before you see your desire manifested. Choose to place your trust in Him and not in your circumstances. Focus on the Word. Affirm to yourself that in Christ you already have what you asked for. Let your thoughts be influenced by God’s promises, not your problems.***

After you’ve done all you know to do in order to stand, STAND!

Why Distractions Invade Your Life

There’s a very simple reason distractions invade our lives.

Distractions

What do you do to help yourself remain focused on what and Who brings light and life?

Your Breakthrough is Right HERE

BREAKTHROUGH.

Everyone needs a breakthrough every now and then.

If you’ve been wondering when your breakthrough will actually happen, maybe your focus needs to be on the SOURCE of your breakthrough instead of the result itself. Check out where Hebrews 12:2 tells us our focus needs to be…

We do this [endure until we see breakthrough] by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the Champion…

Where’s your focus today?

shut up satan

Sticky Note Thought #10 – SHUT UP Satan!!!

Just tell your enemy, “NO… Shut up Satan!”

So many times, we battle with thoughts that resound in our head that make us fearful and hopeless. But we have not been left without a battle plan. The Bible gives us instructions about what to do. In James 4:7, we’re told:

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (NIV)

God would have you to keep your vision fixed on Jesus and not be distracted by your problems. He wants you be humble, looking to Him to meet all your needs. He desires that you stand up against the enemy’s tactics and deceptions.

One very practical and effective way to do so is to verbally say to the devil, “Shut up!”

I’m not kidding!

Use your mouth as a weapon, making it clear to your enemy that you won’t put up with the fear-inducing thoughts he puts inside your head. Tell him “NO” and then follow that up with something that has come from the mouth of God that applies to your circumstances and gives you a sense of victory.

No matter what the problem is that you’re facing today, you have been given a powerful weapon and an effective tool– your mouth and God’s Word. Use them daily!

build your faith

Sticky Note Thought–Use Your Senses to Build Your Faith

Use your senses to build your faith??? I know, it sounds counterintuitive. But maybe it’s time to #StartAsking God how to do that!

We’re told to walk by faith, not by sight. We’re not to let the negativity that we experience through our senses  affect how we experience God’s love. Our senses tend to distract us and color our belief in His capability, power, and willingness. Faith involves rising above what we see, hear, feel, taste, and smell with our senses and living with a belief that something better has been done/given to us by God.

So what do I mean by “use your senses to build your faith”?

Use your sight to read God’s Word and see your answer in His promises.
[2 Corinthians 1:20]

Use your hearing to listen to God’s Word repeatedly.
[Romans 10:17]

Use your mouth to speak life to your life, speaking the promises of God.
[Joshua 1:8]

Use your sense of smell to enjoy a fragrance during your daily prayer time with Him.
[Revelation 8:3,4]

Use your hands to touch someone else’s life and provide the practical help they need.
[Proverbs 31:20]

These sensory activities each help to build your faith because you’re not distracted by what your senses are telling you about any problems you’re facing. You’re actually directing your senses to help you focus on God, your loving Heavenly Father. When you do these things, there’s a powerful spiritual result. Your spirit–your inner man–has taken charge over your flesh (the natural you). That’s as it should be. Your flesh should be subject to your spirit, because your spirit is the part of you that connects with God.

Be encouraged! Your spirit was created to rule– to tell your senses how they can honor God. He’s the One who is the source of your answer to any problem in life. And the best way to honor and please Him is with your faith (Hebrews 11:6).

wait with confidence - let go and let God

Sticky Note Thought #8 – Wait with Confidence

Wait= to remain inactive or in a state of repose, as until something expected happens

There are so many things in our daily lives that cause us to wait. We get impatient, causing us to have a bad attitude toward the person that’s causing the delay. Sometimes we end up disappointed because the outcome isn’t what we desired or expected. When we’re waiting on God, we get tempted to give up on Him. Waiting with confidence can almost seem like an impossibility. Fear and doubt get in the way and we’re left wondering, “Is God ever going to come through”?  We wait with a bad attitude toward Him.

While reading Romans 8 today, this verse stood out to me. It gave me an attitude adjustment. It really encouraged me to think about how much (or how little) I patiently and confidently wait on God and I thought you might find it helpful as well.

No matter what you’re going through, no matter what you’re waiting on, remain hopeful. Wait with a patient attitude and a readiness to receive. Wait, knowing that your Father is your source of all good and perfect gifts and that He does not withhold them from His children. And as you maintain your hope by standing on God’s Word, you’ll be able to have a heart and mind that wait patiently and confidently.

Sticky Note Thoughts #7 – Stupid Sins

I admit it– sometimes I commit stupid sins.

Sometimes, it’s easy to think that I can do what I feel God should be doing–especially when He isn’t doing something in my timing or the way I want it done. The Message Bible calls that a stupid sin.  I am smart enough to know that I can’t do anything as well as God can, nor can I do anything without Him (like breathe). But sometimes a challenge may get the best of me and I forget Who really can fix my life (FYI, it’s NOT Iyanla!).

I resolve to no longer commit stupid sins! [Please pray for me! 🙂 ]

I resolve to look to Jesus, the One who can keep me from stupid sins… if I let Him.

Sticky Note Thought #6- How to Trust God More

Sometimes it’s hard to trust God.

Doubts stealthily move in and cloud our focus on His promises. Despair weaves its way into our thoughts. Our level of expectancy of receiving our desires from Him is almost nil.

When you find yourself in that position, what do you do?

Whenever I’ve been in that predicament,  this has been one of the best requests I’ve (repeatedly) ever made of God:

“Help me trust You.”

Who better than God Himself could give guidance about how to trust God more? He wants you to move to a higher level of trust in Him so that you can bask in the manifestation of His promises. He wants  His Word to speak to you and ease your weariness by showing you how to trust him more. He’ll never say no to you wanting more of Him–He loves you too much!

Sticky Note Thought #4 – Anxiety

Anxiety is no joke.

When it rears its ugly head, its mission is to distract you from enjoying life. As those anxious moments strike, the best cure is the distraction of gratitude.

By concentrating on the good things in your life that you are thankful for, it eases the effect of anxiety and brings peace to your mind.

Be grateful, no matter what you’re going through. If nothing else, you can always thank God for being right there with you (Hebrews 13:5).
