prayer - how to trust

When God Speaks :: His Word Changes Everything

When God speaks, do you listen with the expectation that something is about to change?

God’s words contain the power to change everything! That’s why we need to pay attention when God speaks.

Years Decades ago, there was a TV commercial which had the catchy phrase about investing money, “When E.F. Hutton speaks, people listen!” That same thing should be said about God but unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way. We get distracted and don’t hear Him, or we hear Him but become afraid of how His words could affect us, or we simply don’t believe what He said could possibly be true for our life.

But the Bible tells us that there is so much positive power contained in God’s words that those words alone can keep us alive!

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” – Matthew 4:4 NIV

When God Speaks

So when we are challenged with diseases/conditions in our bodies, we need to be sure to go to the Word. We can take time to encourage ourselves by finding out what God has said about it. Why? Because there are many references in the Bible that assure us we can receive healing through His words. Here’s an example. It’s from Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT:

My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.

Let Scripture encourage you to LISTEN when God speaks to you, to remember His words, to hide them in your heart, and to acknowledge that His words bring life and healing to your whole body. No part of your body is left out of this promise. There’s a healing word for your entire body.

What words of His will you use to change your circumstances? Please share the scripture below so that we can all be blessed by it. 🙂

A Prayer for Your Strength, Energy, and Health

Is there ever a day where you don’t feel like you need more strength and energy? How often does that prompt you to pray for good health?

Here’s a prayer that you might want to use. It relates to your health and is based on Scripture. I’ve included a graphic of it that you can save, print, and share. The graphic includes the Scripture references that are foundational to the prayer.

Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me.
Thank You that Your promises to me are true.
I praise You because You make all things new.

You made it possible for Your life to be manifest in my body.
Because of what You did on the cross, I have authority to reject any sickness or condition that tries to attack my body.
I believe You have already healed me.

I declare I am filled with strength and energy because You want me to live in wholeness!
AMEN!

Faith Speaks God’s Word—Believe It. Speak It. Experience It.

Faith speaks. What does it speak? It confidently speaks the words that God has said. How does it speak? Aloud, and not just one time– it speaks by repeatedly and consistently muttering what God has said. That’s what He recommended to Joshua as he was preparing to lead the Israelites after Moses’ death (Joshua 1:8). It also speaks in everyday conversations by being in alignment with what God’s words. When you speak God’s words, it is a demonstration of believing and being in agreement with His Word. This is made clear in 2 Corinthians 4:13 [NASB]:

“But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I BELIEVED, THEREFORE I SPOKE,” we also believe, therefore we also speak.”

It is a reference to what the psalmist said in Psalm 116:10, as he expressed his belief in God’s love for him as he cried out to God in his affliction. Do you believe God loves you? Do your words reflect your belief?

The principle of believing and speaking is also shown in Romans 10:4-10. In fact, the very blessing of salvation is based on believing and speaking. Verses 9 and 10 are especially relevant to this:

“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;  for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”

It’s important to note that in this passage, the word “salvation” not only means saved from eternal damnation after death. It also means deliverance, preservation, safety, and healing in this life on earth!  God loves you and wants you to have a quality of life filled and overflowing His goodness.

Faith Speaks SalvationFaith Speaks What God Has Said

Therefore, if the greatest gift that God has given us comes through believing and speaking, surely any other blessings are accessible in the same way. God wants us to rest in His love and receive His blessings. He wants us to believe what He has said about our position as a joint heir with Jesus and to speak what He has said in His Word about our position and circumstances.

Be encouraged as you relax in knowing that Father God loves you immensely. He has already made a way out of  life’s difficult circumstances by sending Jesus to meet all your needs of deliverance, preservation, safety, and healing. Find what He has promised you in the Bible. Have faith in that Word–believe it and speak it. As a result, you can then have a confident expectation that God will do what He said.

Continually believe and speak with gratitude until you see His promise manifested.

Remember, faith speaks!

What are you saying about your life right now?

Light

As we begin this first full week of 2013, I thought I would encourage you to speak Light into your life. All of us have some dark spaces in our life. Some of those spaces are small corners. Some of those spaces feel like a huge banquet hall of darkness.

Nevertheless, any amount of darkness goes away when light come.  Even the light of a candle makes the darkness flee from the area immediately surrounding the candle.  Psalm 119:130 says that the entrance of the Word of God brings light. How do we allow the Word of God to enter our lives? By speaking it! By agreeing with it! By believing it! When light is the Light of Christ, it is powerful and active on our behalf! That Light gives us hope for our tomorrows.

So declare that 2013 will be a year filled with light for your life. Find a scripture that encourages you about the dark spaces you have in your life and believe that Word is true for you. See that Truth work its way of light for you throughout 2013.

Feel free to share any scriptures that you will “make your own” in the comments section below. Blessings to you as you declare God’s Word and bring light into your world.
