Focus Friday-Inseparable from His Love

Focus on this scripture of love throughout the day.

It’s God’s Word about Jesus’  love for us. It’s what He desires us to believe. Believe it is true for you because God’s Word is Truth.

Use it as an affirmation. Speak this Word to yourself throughout the day. Personalize it by putting your name in it!

Workshops at the iHope Fertility Retreat were based on the content of my book, A Seed of Hope: God’s Promises of Fertility. We discussed many topics that helped with increasing trust in God such as God’s lavish and unending love and  His faithfulness to always follow through on His promises. The weekend was filled with revelation and spiritual growth as we held open and honest discussions centered on God’s promise.

In addition to hearing my personal story of victory over infertility, attendees were empowered through video testimonies of other women who have overcome infertility. Guest speakers provided encouragement and fun insights. Activities and props enhanced the lessons learned in the workshop sessions.

A personal chef provided delicious and nutritious meals that incorporated natural, “good for you” foods because the goal was to feed the women “as if they were pregnant.”

The iHope Fertility Retreat provided an environment to recharge each woman’s spirit by tapping into what God says about infertility in the Bible. Learning how to increasingly trust God’s love and believe His fertility promises in the Bible helped the women to experience enhanced peace.

I was excited to share spiritual strategies and solutions that specifically related to infertility and empowered women to leave with a more hope-filled focus for having a child!

If someone you know is struggling with infertility, invite them to contact me about the next iHope Fertility Retreat, which will be held in Fall 2014.

The Pit or the Palace

Pit - DestinyThere’s a faded sticky note on my kitchen cabinet that I put there many years ago. It has survived the steam and the grease from the nearby stove. The ink has faded but it’s still readable. And even though it’s been in the same spot since my oldest was in high school (he’s now 25), it still catches my attention from time to time.

“The pit is not your destiny. Your destiny is with the King.”

How do you see your life right now? Are you in the Pit or are you in the Palace? Jesus died so that you would have a life lived in the abundance of the palace. John 10:10 states, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” This abundance is not just about material wealth. It applies to any and every aspect of your body, soul, and spirit.

If you’re feeling like your life is stuck in a pit right now, check where your focus has been. Do you need to shift your focus from the negative to the positive (Philippians 4:8)? Look to Jesus who finished a work on your behalf so that you wouldn’t have to remain in the pit. Be encouraged and choose to focus on the love of the One who shines a brilliant light into in the darkness of any circumstance. He wants you to choose the destiny He planned, one of joy, favor, peace, and abundance in every area of life.

What will you do today that will remind yourself of Who lovingly holds your destiny?

rest in Him

Rest vs. Work

Valorie Burton's bookI recently received an email from business coach, Valorie Burton, that spoke to something that’s been on my heart for a while. Here’s an excerpt from her newsletter:

“While returning from a speaking engagement on an evening flight, the pilot announced that he expected we would land a few minutes early. Instead, as we approached, nearby thunderstorms changed the plan. For more than an hour – as daylight turned to evening – we circled.  At first, I found myself – like many of the passengers – feeling agitated. Then I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and enjoyed a few moments of rest.

I’ve noticed that so often in life, when we encounter a holding pattern, the natural reaction is one of frustration for having to wait. But a holding pattern serves a greater purpose – protecting you until the right conditions unfold that allow you to land at your destination safely. In our fast-paced world, we are tempted to believe that faster is always better. Sometimes, though, pushing for something to happen in the wrong timing can unnecessarily force you into a storm.”  (c) Copyright 2014 Valorie Burton and Inspire Inc.

Valorie encouraged her readers to “take a deep breath, trust God’s timing and calmly embrace the journey.”

I think that’s what God means when He says to rest in Him. He wants us to receive the lavish, unfailing love He has for us and then trust Him to workout whatever the challenge is that we may be facing. That can be hard to do but I have a feeling that it’s the best way to come out on the other side of that challenge with the results that are best for us.

In the Bible, Sarah did not initially trust God’s timing. She had spent years waiting for His promise of a son. In her impatience, she decided to have her husband, Abram, impregnate her maid, Hagar (Genesis 16). She chose not to rest in God’s love for her. She chose not to trust His promise and His timing. Her choice to not wait for the child of promise did not lead to the fulfillment of her hope for a child. What resulted from her “pushing for something to happen,” has been manifested as a centuries-long conflict between the Arab descendants of Ismael (the son of Hagar) and the Jewish descendants of Isaac (the son of Sarah).

So today I encourage you to actively seek that place of rest. Rest in knowing that Jesus finished the work on your behalf on the cross and He desires that you accept it to the fullest extent.

Trust His promises.

Trust His wisdom.

Trust that His effort is better than yours so you can relax and wait expectantly with patience and joy.

Why?

His love for you is unfailing, His timing is impeccable, and the presence of His power in the midst of your challenge will bring the desired results of victory (1 Corinthians 15:57).
